Hey, I'm

Work with me

Embarking on the e-commerce journey involves more than just selling products; it’s about crafting an engaging experience for customers while optimizing key metrics like Average Order Value (AOV).

As a brand and Shopify website designer, my role is to assist clients in creating beautiful and user-friendly online storefronts that not only showcase their products but also encourage customers to explore, engage, and increase their average spending per transaction.

In this blog post, I’m sharing three superrrrr effective strategies I use when building sites for my clients that simultaneously enhance AOV and elevate the overall customer experience, drawing inspiration from successful boutique businesses along the way.

More sales + a better customer experience = win, win baby!!!!

Before we dive in, let’s quickly talk about AOV or Average Order Value and what it means for your E Commerce website.

Average Order Value (AOV) is a key metric used by businesses to measure the average amount customers spend in a single transaction. It’s a handy way to understand how much value each customer brings to your online store with each purchase.

By keeping an eye on your AOV, you can make smarter decisions about pricing, promotions, and overall strategies to increase sales and profitability.

1. Bundling

Let’s get real about bundles: they’re not just about tossing stuff together. Think of it as creating a curated experience that makes shopping easy for folks and also brings in some extra cash for businesses

Let’s talk about turning a casual browse into a shopping spree that feels like hitting the jackpot – it’s all about making smart product suggestions. If you know your customer really well and do this strategically – this can change the game!

Imagine this: You’re a boutique home good store.

Someone’s eyeing a comfy sofa? Cool, let’s suggest some matching throw pillows, a cute rug, or maybe some funky decor that vibes with their style. It’s like being their shopping buddy, guiding them to a setup that’s totally them.

You could even do this with a super fun quiz to make more specific recommendations!

Now, here’s the magic – once they’re into these awesome suggestions, why not hit ’em with a bundle deal? Instead of just buying the sofa, they could snag a complete set with all the matching goodies for a sweet package price. It’s like, “Hey, you’re getting the sofa, how about throwing in these awesome extras for a killer deal?”

And just like that, you’ve turned a regular shopper into a happy customer who not only got what they needed but also scored a bunch of extras and you turned what was a $400 order into $700.

2. Loyalty Programs and Tiered Discounts:

Building a loyal customer base is like cultivating a garden – it requires attention, care, and a sprinkle of rewards.

Loyalty programs and tiered discounts are the watering cans that nourish this relationship.

A great way to do this is to design a loyalty program where customers earn points for every purchase.

As they accumulate points, offer them exclusive discounts, free products, or other special perks. This not only incentivizes repeat purchases but also instills a sense of appreciation and exclusivity, turning one-time shoppers into loyal fans.

Let’s break it down with a real-life example for a skincare brand:

Say your customer usually spends $50 on their skincare picks. You roll out a tiered discount – spend $60, get 10% off, spend $80, get 15% off, and so on. All of a sudden, their $50 order turns into a $60 splurge, earning them that sweet discount. It’s like saying, “Hey, thanks for being awesome – here’s a little extra love on your next skincare haul.”

And there you go – you’ve not only boosted the average order value but also made your customers feel like skincare royalty. It’s all about creating that positive shopping vibe and keeping them coming back for more of that skincare goodness

3. Irresistible Email List Magic

Here’s the golden rule: never underestimate the power of a well-curated email list. Create a dedicated space on your website for visitors to sign up for exclusive updates about your new product launch. And here’s the icing on the cake: sweeten the deal by offering them a tempting discount as a token of your appreciation. It’s like inviting them to an exclusive party, and who’d want to miss out?

4. Sneak Peek Behind the Scenes

People love a glimpse behind the curtain, and you can give them just that. Share sneak peeks of the product in the making—be it through captivating images, short videos, or even a blog post detailing the design process. This not only builds excitement but also establishes a personal connection between your brand and your customers.

Crafting the Perfect Hype: A Summary

Running an online store doesn’t have to be a puzzle. With these simple design tricks, you can make your website a place where customers not only buy more but also have a blast doing it. Think about those charming boutiques you love – they’ve got something special that keeps you coming back.

Crafting a stellar shopping experience that boosts AOV requires a thoughtful combination of design strategies and customer-centric approaches.

Remember, it’s not just about the product—it’s about the experience, the journey, and the connection you’re building with your audience.

Cheers,

Ayesha.
